Ubisoft is Not Worried about Xbox One Sales

This Friday, the PlayStation 4 will hit store shelves. This will be followed by the launch of the Xbox One next week. Although both companies want their consoles to have good sales, there are other parties that need these systems to sell as well. Ubisoft, for example, makes all of its money by releasing games to play on multiple consoles because it does not make any hardware itself. With the Wii U still struggling to find its place, Ubisoft is hoping that the Xbox One and PS4 will get off to a better start.

According to the CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, the PS4 is ahead of the Xbox One in pre-orders. It is not known how he knows this, but most assume it is based on the idea that the company has more pre-orders for its games on the PS4 than on the Xbox One. That being said, he did admit that he is not worried about the sales of the Xbox One. He pointed out that even if it does not beat the PS4 in sales, the Xbox One will still have a great holiday season.

During a recent interview, Guillemot said: “What we see is that there is a good pre-order list on the Xbox One. Even if the PS4 is in front in terms of pre-orders, we see lots of improvement in the pre-orders that are coming on Xbox One. So no, we are not worried at all. We think it will be a big seller as well.”

Of course, Ubisoft tends to have an upbeat look on all of the next generation consoles. The company even thinks that Wii U sales will pick up this holiday season. Ubisoft has been saying that for a while, and it appears that they were right. Sales for the Wii U have been picking up in both America and Japan. Ubisoft said that all the Wii U needed to start selling is some good software, and the machine is finally getting it.

Microsoft has not come clean about its pre-order numbers. All it has said is that demand for the system has been extremely overwhelming. The company did say, however, that pre-orders for the Xbox One are ahead of the Xbox 360 over the same time period. This is great news considering that the Xbox One had a pretty bad showing at E3 this year compared to the PS4.

The real battle here will be between the Xbox One and the PS4. This is not to say that the Wii U will not sell well. In fact, it more than likely will. Due to the cheap price of the Wii U, a lot of gamers will choose to buy it and either an Xbox One or a PS4. This is the same thing we saw last generation with the Wii. People who purchased an Xbox 360 or a PS3 had a Wii sitting on their shelves as well. Due to its low price, the Wii became a great secondary console that every household had. The same thing may happen to the Wii U as well because there are certain games on the Wii U that you cannot get anywhere else.
