Guild Wars 2 – Top 10 reasons to be interested and WoW graphics comparison

For the uninitiated, Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG that will be free-to-play (after purchasing a copy of the game) and looks to be an exciting new choice for many disenfranchised MMO gamers.

From fun games like Rift, to missed opportunities like Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, to “needs more work” like Age of Conan, and even to “really fun but not as good as WoW” as in the case with Lord of the Rings: Online, it seems like every month there is a new “WoW killer” or “new MMO that does X better”.

And if that didn’t at least get you excited (or maybe you stopped watching because you don’t know enough about the game to care), you need to probably understand why everyone keeps talking about this Guild Wars game.

There are several key elements that new MMO makers are trying to get rid of, some have already begun to occur in newer MMOs, whereas other staples of the genre seem to go untouched, as if to say some gameplay mechanics cannot be improved.

The creators, designers, and developers of Guild Wars 2 look to change a few things that some people have grown to loathe in MMOs in favor of going back to the roots of what makes games fun. Rift has already explored some of the aspects of making a game fresh, and ArenaNet and NCSoft (the makers of Guild Wars 2) look to evolve those ideas a little more.
